About offshore companies

Off-shore companies either pay none or very little taxation on their income and gains. They play a major role in financial planning for individuals, families and companies particularly in the protection of assets and the mitigation of tax liabilities.

Gibraltar companies.  If income is not accrued or derived in Gibraltar, you don’t pay corporation tax on profits, even if the profits are remitted to Gibraltar.  Additionally, all income generated from savings is exempt from tax.   

Gibraltar Companies - corporation tax.  From 2010, Gibraltar will introduce a tax rate on profits of 10% making Gibraltar an attractive low tax jurisdiction. 

Gibraltar has also signed tax information exchange agreements with the USA, New Zealand, Germany, Austria, Australia, the UK, and the Republic of Ireland.  It’s expected to sign agreements with five other countries before the end of 2009 to ensure Gibraltar is on the OECD ‘white list’.

The formation and annual procedures are straightforward and governed by the company’s ordinance. Some of the main reasons and benefits for forming an offshore company are -  

• limited liability for shareholders
• separate legal identity and easy transfer of ownership
• no inheritance tax, capital gains tax, wealth and withholding taxes

 Banking.  Pound sterling is the official currency in Gibraltar. There is complete freedom to remit funds to and from Gibraltar and to convert funds to other currencies. Individuals and companies can operate bank accounts in any currency and purchase assets anywhere in the world.

Trustee services. Corinthian Trust Company Ltd helps clients protect their assets through trusts.  This can be done by an individual or through an offshore trust company.
